Answer Key and Explanations
1. 飲む → 飲みます
For Group 1 masu form, move the final sound to the い-row and add ます.
2. 書く → 書きます
く changes to き before ます.
3. 食べる → 食べます
Group 2 verbs drop る and add ます.
4. 見る → 見ます
見る is Group 2, so it drops る.
5. する → します
する is irregular and must be memorized.
6. 飲む → 飲んで
む, ぶ, and ぬ verbs use んで in te-form.
7. 書く → 書いて
Most く verbs become いて. 行く is the famous exception: 行って.
8. 話す → 話して
す verbs become して.
9. 食べる → 食べて
Group 2 verbs drop る and add て.
10. 来る → 来て(きて)
来る is irregular. In te-form it is 来て, read きて.

Common Mistakes
Mislabeling る-verbs
Not every verb ending in る is Group 2. 帰る is Group 1, but 食べる is Group 2.
